Blackburn Hawks extended their lead at the top of the Moralee
Conference following a 4 point weekend that brought them 2 8-1 victories. On
Saturday afternoon they beat Sheffield Spartans at iceSheffield and then saw
off 2nd place Billingham Stars at home the following night.
The Hawks now lead the table by 5 clear points, although they have
played two games more than the Stars. Whitley Warriors were without a game at
the weekend remain in 3rd although they are level on points with
Spartans and have now been joined by Sutton Sting – who won 8-1 away at
Manchester Minotaurs in the only other Moralee game of the weekend.
In the English Challenge Cup North, Solway Sharks were shut out at home
11-0 by EPL team Manchester Phoenix in a game in which they were outshot 46 to
20. The Phoenix still top the qualifying group although they lost 2-3 at home
to 2nd place Telford Tigers EPL on Sunday.
