On Saturday, 4th
place Telford Tigers beat bottom team Sheffield Senators 2-8 for what was the
Sheffield side’s 25th consecutive defeat. With just 7 games left and a deficit of 21
points, the Senators are already resigned to finishing bottom of the pile and
just above them are Sheffield Spartans who lost 1-2 to Whitley Warriors on
Sunday.
That game ended in farcical
circumstances as it was stopped with over 2 minutes left to play because of a
blood spillage on the ice.
In the following encounter on
the bill, league leaders Blackburn Hawks easily disposed of 4th from
bottom Sutton Sting by 7 goals to 0.
Those results mean that, heading
into the final straight, the Hawks still lead the table by 7 clear points although
second place Whitley have two games in hand.
