Deeside Dragons’ coach Dave Clancy has helped to guide the Great Britain women’s team to the silver medal at the IIHF World Championships in Spain.

Clancy has been an assistant coach with the GB women’s team for a number of years and was joined on the back room staff by Robyn Crebbin, who is the Dragons’ Sports Therapist.

The GB team beat the host nation 3-2, Korea 3-2 in overtime, Kazakhstan 3-1 and eventual tournament winners the Netherlands 1-0 in a thrilling penalty shoot out.  Their only defeat came at the hands of Latvia, to whom they lost 4-3 in overtime.

Team GB finished in 2nd place in the overall table with 11 points from their 5 games, 2 points behind gold medal winners Netherlands, who actually won the same amount of matches but got extra points for regulation time victories.
