U16G 4
The Deeside
Dragons Under 16 Girls team remain level on points with league leaders Whitley
Bay after a 7-4 win over the Sheffield Shadows at Deeside Leisure Centre on
Sunday.
Lana Botes
opened the scoring for the Dragons just 85 seconds into the game but Sheffield
equalised on 5 minutes.
Deeside hit
straight back with three quick goals within 90 seconds of each other – from
Poppy Ward, Botes again and Hallie Morgan – around the 6 minute mark to put
some daylight between the two teams but Sheffield scored again on 10 minutes to
leave the score standing at 4-2 at the first period break.
Sheffield
pulled another goal back 3 minutes into the second period but a second goal of
the game for Ward on 23 minutes re-established the two goal cushion for 5-3 at
the second interval.
Deeside
edged further ahead again with a goal from Grace Taylor on 32 minutes, only for
Sheffield to pull another goal back 8 minutes later. A hat-trick goal for Poppy
Ward in the dying seconds of the game rounded of the scoring for a 7-4 win for the
Dragons.
