Match Report: Solihull Barons 12 Widnes Wild 5 (NIHL Moralee Division)

Sunday 16th February 2025 – NIHL Moralee Division: Solihull Barons 12 Widnes Wild 5

The Widnes Wild NIHL team suffered a 12 –5 defeat away to Solihull Barons on Sunday.

Solihull opened the scoring on 3 minutes and went 2-0 up on 14 minutes. Dani Haid pulled a goal back for Widnes against his former club on 19 minutes and the score stood at 2-1 at the first break. 

4 goals early on in the second period saw Solihull begin to pull away but Nathan Pollard - making his Wild debut - scored on 38 minutes to stem the flow.  However a further Solihull goal just 10 seconds later saw the Barons leading 7-2 after two periods.

The hosts further extended their lead 57 seconds into the third period but Damarni James pulled a goal back for Widnes on 43 minutes.  Two more Solihull goals were followed by a Mikey Gilbert strike, leaving the score at 10-4 with 10 minutes left to play.

Yet two more goals brought the Barons’ tally to a round dozen for the night and a strike for Kai Hathaway rounded off the Wild scoring.

The Wild have two more away games in a row - against local rivals Deeside Dragons this Saturday 22nd February and away to Nottingham Lions on Sunday. They are next at home on Sunday 2nd March when they take on Leeds Knights at Planet Ice Widnes, 5.30pm face off.
