The Deeside Ducks have announced the signing of Michael Speare to add to their roster for their debut 2024/25 Laidler Division season.
The
22 year old defender is a long term Deeside junior from Under 10s upwards and
was an Alternate Captain for the Dragons Under 15 and Under 18 teams
He
made his senior debut last season with the Bradford Bulldogs in the Laidler
Division, making 24 appearances and scoring 11 goals and 6 assists.
Talking
about joining the Ducks, Michael said:
I
am excited to be back at the Den where my career began, following an excellent
season with the Bradford Bulldogs where I developed so much as a senior player. I am looking forward to the coming season and
to growing and evolving my game with the Ducks.
I am eager to be part of the exciting new team dynamic. I relish this
opportunity and will strive to make this team the very best it can be.
Commenting
on Speare’s signing, Ducks’ Lead Coach Peter Bleackley said:
“Mikey
started at Deeside juniors as an U10 and has always had a strong work rate. He
was our Junior Captain and last season he made the step up to Division 2
playing for Bradford Bulldogs under the watchful eye of their head coach Andy
Brown.
He
is a solid player with a great attitude and I am expecting lots of points from
Mikey this season.
