The Widnes Wild NIHL team have signed promising young netminder Charlie Henry for the forthcoming 2024/25 Moralee Division season.
The 19 year old is a former Nottingham junior player and also had a brief spell in the United States where he played for the West Coast Renegades of Utah in the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL).
Henry made a number of appearances for the Sheffield Steeldogs in the NIHL National Division during the 2022/23 season and spent last season with the Sheffield Titans in the Laidler Division.
Talking about joining the Wild, Charlie said: “I’m excited to be in Widnes for the upcoming season. It’s an incredible opportunity to be part of such a dynamic and passionate group. I can’t wait to hit the ice and contribute to the team’s success. Go Wild!”
Widnes Player-Coach Tom Jackson said of Henry: “Charlie approached me during the summer and from the first time I spoke to him I could tell he was eager to compete and work for his spot on the team.”
“He has been on the ice a few times with some of the guys over the summer and shown his ability, pairing that with being 6”4 at 19 he’s got a lot of potential. He is a great addition to what I hope to be a competitive goalie roster to pick from!”
