The Widnes Wild NIHL team had a losing start to their NIHL Moralee Division season with a 9-2 defeat away to Hull Jets on Saturday and a 3-6 home loss to defending champions Billingham Stars at Planet Ice Widnes on Sunday.
The home game on Sunday saw Billingham leading 1-4 at the first period – the only Wild goal coming from Widnes youngster Luke Alston - and the game was pretty much done and dusted at that point.
Widnes had more of the play in the second and third periods – drawing each of them 1-1 - with goals from Mikey Gilbert and Kai Hathaway helping to keep the score respectable.
The Wild are next in action this Sunday 22nd September when they take on local rivals Deeside Dragons at Planet Ice Widnes, 5.30pm face off.
