Girls Play Off Semi Final: Ice Bees 1 – Deeside Dragons
0
The
Deeside Dragons Under 16 Girls team put in a battling performance in their
play-off semi final, narrowly losing out 1-0 to the Ice Bees in Sheffield on
Saturday.
Having
finished in second place in the North Division, the Dragons girls were paired
up against the Slough-based Ice Bees, who finished first in the South Division
and, as teams from the north and south don’t meet very often, it was impossible
to predict what might happen.
As
the score suggests, it was a very closely fought game with little to choose
between the teams. The Bees took the lead in the first period and, while Deeside
had their chances, they were unable to make any sort of breakthrough.
Violet
Lennon put in a superb display in the Deeside goal and was named Player of the
Game for the Dragons girls.
In
the other semi-final North champions
Whitley Bay beat South runners up Chelmsford Rattlesnakes 4-2 and went on to
beat the Ice Bees 3-0 in the National final on Sunday.
