The Deeside-based Flintshire Phantoms will be taking part in the Ice Hockey Summer Classic competition for 2018 and play their first game - albeit on the distinctly un-summerish date - of Sunday 25th February when they entertain the Wyre Seagulls at Deeside Leisure Centre in an 8pm face off.
The Summer Classic features six teams from across the country who play each other home and away in a qualifying group, with the top teams then meeting again in semi finals and final.
Alongside the Phantoms, the other teams involved in the 2018 competition are: the Riverside Raiders from Widnes (who were last year’s play off winners), the Wyre Seagulls from Blackburn, Kingston City Knights from Hull and two iceSheffield based teams in the shape of the Steel City Hawks and the Sheffield Ice Tigers.
A full list of the Flintshire Phantoms home and away fixtures will be announced in due course.
Before then, they have a home game against the Blackburn Buccaneers THIS SUNDAY 28th January. It follows straight after the Dragons’ NIHL Moralee Division match against the Billingham Stars – 8pm face off, so if any fans would like to stay behind for a second helping of hockey action, it should be great to watch.
