The Deeside-based Connah’s Quay Cobras team play only their second ever game this Sunday 21
st May when they host Trafford Thunder in a challenge match at Deeside Leisure Centre in Queensferry, 8.30pm face off.

The Cobras are a new side in recreational ice hockey, having been formed at the start of the year after the Deeside venue re-opened following a 2 ½ year closure due initially to the Covid lockdown and then the building subsequently being used as an NHS vaccination centre.

They played their first match on 16th April 2023 when they narrowly lost 4-8 to the Widnes-based Riverside Raiders team.

The Connah’s Quay team features an interesting mix of youth and experience and includes a number of former Deeside junior players and rec players from other teams.

Several former league players are also on the roster, with notable names including former Deeside Dragons NIHL players Kenny Williams, Scott Egerton and Sam Krempasky, ex Riverside Raider, Dragon and Bradford Bulldog Gez Evans, Stewart Cutting of Slough Jets and Swindon Wildcats and former women's league players Cath Thornton of Flintshire Furies and Emma Dutton of Manchester Phoenix.

The game against Trafford faces off at 8.30pm on Sunday and admission is free.
