The Widnes Wild team have announced home and away pre-season challenge matches against the Telford Tigers 2 as part of their preparation for the new NIHL season.
The home game will take place on Sunday 3rd September at Planet Ice Widnes, 5.30pm face off, with the return match in Shropshire the following Saturday 9th September.
Despite playing in the lower Laidler Division, the Tigers are still expected to offer strong opposition. They were runners up in their league last season and trounced champions Hull Jets 1-6 in the play off final – held at Widnes – in their last competitive game.
Widnes always enjoyed a healthy rivalry with the Telford team when they were regular opponents in the Laidler Division and, of the 16 games between the two sides, the Wild have won 8, drawn 1 and lost 7. The last meeting was on the last home weekend before the Covid lockdown in March 2020 when the Wild beat the Tigers 7-2.
A full fixture list for the new Moralee Division season will be announced shortly, along with details of season tickets and single match day admission prices.
