The Connah’s Quay Cobras play their last game of the 2023 rec season this Sunday 24th September when they take on the Halton Huskies at Deeside Leisure Centre, 8.30pm face off.

The North Wales team only formed in January, following the re-opening of the Queensferry rink after an extended Covid shutdown and refurbishment, and this tantalising “Deeside v Widnes” clash will be a good way to assess how far the Cobras have progressed in their first year.

The team roster is composed of an interesting mix of youth and experience, including former Deeside junior players, recreational players and a number of former NIHL league players.

The Cobras have put in some respectable performances thus far in their first season, narrowly losing to Riverside Raiders and Trafford Thunder, beating the Shropshire Huskies and finishing as runners up in the Sheffield RecFest.

The game on Sunday follows on after the Deeside Dragons v Whitley Warriors Moralee Division fixture (which is a 5.15 face off…) and is free admission, so any Dragons, or - indeed - Warriors fans, who fancy an extra ice hockey fix on a Sunday night might like to stay on and watch.
