The Sting lost 4-2 away at Solway Sharks the same evening, meaning the Sharks now look safe in 3rd place with a 3 point cushion and three games left to play.
The big news on Sunday evening came at Blackburn as the Hawks were presented with the Moralee Conference trophy after their penultimate home game of the season.
The presentation came after a fascinating 2-0 win over 2nd place Billingham Stars which remained at an agonisingly close 1-0 scoreline until the very last minute of the game. The Stars pulled their netminder to try and press for a late equaliser and Hawks' Jordan Bannon made sure of the win with an Empty Net Goal at 59.12.
