The Riverside Raiders team are doing their bit to promote the importance of mental health awareness with a fundraising walk up Mount Snowdon wearing their full ice hockey kit.
The Raiders are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year and, as it is also 149 years since the first recorded ice hockey game took place at Victoria Skating Rink in Montreal, Canada, they want to mark the occasion by doing something unusual and becoming the first ice hockey team to scale the 1085 meters above sea level of the famous Welsh peak.
The walk will take place on Sunday 3rd March and the team are hoping to raise funds and awareness for the Rethink Mental Illness who are a charity that seek to improve the lives of people severely affected by mental illness through their networks of local groups and services, information and campaigns.
For anybody who would like to sponsor the Raiders’ walk up Mount Snowdon, they have set up a justgiving page at: https://www.justgiving.com/team/dropthepuck
