Saturday 24th February 2024 – WNIHL Div 2 N: Grimsby Wolves – DMUK Widnes Wild Women

The DMUK Widnes Wild women’s team‘s game away at Grimsby was abandoned in the first period after a Wolves player suffered a broken ankle on the ice.

The home side were leading 4-1 at the time of the stoppage, although the Wild Women had travelled without a regular netminder and senior player Lucy Kirkham bravely took up the pads and played in goal. The sole Wild goal was scored by team captain Charlotte Cramp.

There are hopes that the game will be rescheduled for a later date if a suitable ice time slot can be arranged at the Lincolnshire rink.

Widnes are away to Whitley Bay on Saturday 9th March and are next at home on Sunday 24th March when they take on the Telford Wrekin Raiders at Planet Ice Widnes, 4.25pm face off.
