The Deeside Ducks have announced the signing of Alfie Kelly as part of their roster for the new NIHL season.
The 17 year old defenceman is a former Manchester junior and was captain of the Storm Under 18 team last season. He also made 22 appearances for the Altrincham Aces in the Laidler Division in what was his breakout senior season.
Talking
about his move westwards Kelly said:
“I
am really grateful for the opportunity to come and play for the Deeside Ducks and am looking forward to the coming season.”
“I
am excited to work with the coaching group and within the pathway for juniors
to progress into senior hockey. I played
for Altrincham Aces last season and gained some experiences in this league and
I am keen to gain more here at Deeside.
I can’t wait to get started!”
James
Parsons, Head Coach of the Deeside Juniors, said of Kelly:
“Alfie
came to our open trials in June, and what stood out right away was his
fantastic attitude and work ethic.”
“Alfie
already has a good amount of games played in NIHL 2, which I feel will benefit
the team as they enter their first season. Not only that, but Alfie will also
get to train and play with our junior team. Welcome, Alfie!”
