Widnes Wild NIHL player Kyle Carruth has been selected for the Great Britain Under 18 squad to play in the 2024 World Championships in Sosnowiec, Poland, from 17th to 23rd April.
The GB team will compete in Division II Group A of the World Championships and will take on Croatia, Serbia, Romania, the Netherlands and the host nation.
17 year old Carruth signed for the Wild this season on a 2 way arrangement with his home club Solway Sharks. He has played 15 Moralee Division games for Widnes this season, scoring 7 goals and 6 assists and has also iced 21 times for the Sharks in the NIHL National Division.
Kyle played in 2 GB Under 18 challenge games against France before Christmas and made the headlines when he scored an unusual “Michigan goal”, one of only 3 GB goals that were scored over the two games against the higher ranked visitors.
Carruth also played for the Under 18 national side in the Under 18 World Championships in Serbia in April 2023. He played in all 5 games, scoring 2 assists and helping GB to a bronze medal finish – just outside the promotion places.
