Coventry Blaze 6 – Deeside D2 Dragons 3

Sunday 11th January 2026 – NIHL Laidler Division: Altrincham Aces 4 - Deeside D2 Dragons 7

The Deeside D2 Dragons had a rollercoaster road weekend losing 6-3 away to Coventry Blaze on Saturday and then beating Altrincham Aces 4-7 away on Sunday.

The young Dragons put in a plucky performance away in Coventry but never really looked like winning and goals from Stewart Cutting, Lewis Edward and Karl Bacon weren’t enough to save them from a 6-3 defeat.

In the game in Altrincham on Sunday, they led from the start and never looked back.

First period goals from Chris Jones and James Shaw saw them leading 0-2 at the first interval and they ended the second period 2-6 ahead with strikes from Ben Roscoe, Cody Ogden, Cameron Kushnirenko  and Jones again .

Karl Bacon scored his second goal in two games,  rounding off the Deeside scoring and the D2 Dragons  were able to celebrate a home and away league double over the Aces for the first time.

The D2 Dragons have a three week break from competitive action before their next game, which is away to Nottingham Lions on 8th February.

They are next at home on Saturday 14th February when they take on Coventry Blaze at Deeside Leisure Centre.
