Saturday 21st June 2025 – BPIHL: Mayhem 2 – Cardiff Huskies 6
The Mayhem sledge team put in a battling performance against
defending champions and league leaders Cardiff Huskies but ultimately lost out
2-6 at Planet Ice Widnes on Saturday.
The game was evenly balanced in its early stages and it
took until the 13th minute for the deadlock to be broken. When it finally came, the first goal came
from Mayhem’s Karl Nicholson – and the score remained 1-0 at the first period
break.
Unfortunately, it all went wrong for the Mayhem in the
second period. Cardiff equalised on 20 minutes and then a powerplay goal on a hooking
penalty and a delayed penalty goal on a hooking call saw them open up a two
goal lead.
Karl Nicholson pulled a goal back for the Mayhem on 26
minutes but a goal with just 2 seconds left in the period saw Cardiff leading
2-4 at the second interval.
The Mayhem picked up a bit in the third period but were unable
to make any headway against the stubborn Cardiff defence. Two more goals for the Huskies – including a hat trick strike from Tyler Christopher
- saw them come away with a 2-6 victory.
The win keeps Cardiff top of the British Para Ice Hockey
League table with 4 wins from their 7 games to date.
The Mayhem now have a weekend off before their next game, which is away to Sheffield Steelkings on Saturday 5th July.
They are next at home to the Peterborough Phantoms on
Saturday 19th July at Planet Ice Widnes.
