At his funeral, a group of Brian’s friends decided to go along to the
game against Blackburn Hawks on Sunday and meet in their old stamping ground of
the Clock End of the rink.
They paid their own special tribute in the 53rd minute – Brian’s age at
his passing – by standing for a minute’s applause in his memory. This must have gee-ed the players up as they
were losing 2-1 at the time, then 3-1 but hit back to draw level at 4-4 with
just 11 seconds to go in the match.
Brian had run the Warriors supporters club back in the 1990s and had
even managed to attend a few matches earlier this season despite battling with serious
illness.
