30th March 2024 – Challenge Match: Leeds Warriors 3 – Halton Huskies 4 (Match Abandoned)

The Halton Huskies team had their match away to Leeds Warriors abandoned after 40 minutes of play due to technical difficulties during the ice resurfacing between the second and third periods away at the Planet Ice rink in Leeds.

Although it was “only” a challenge match – as such friendly games are referred to in ice hockey – and with no league points or tournament positions at stake, it was disappointing for both teams as the game had been very closely fought and, standing at a finely poised 3-4, could easily have gone either way in the deciding third period.

Huskies team manager Stephen Hay said afterwards: “It was a close tough game. No goal seemed to go unanswered, resulting in a few good power plays and penalties.”

The Halton Huskies are next in action on Sunday 21st April when they take on the Sheffield Ice Tigers in a challenge match at Planet Ice Widnes, 4.15pm face off.
