Widnes ice hockey coach Michael Gilbert has been appointed head coach for England junior trips to the Netherlands and the Czech Republic in the coming weeks.
The trips are part of the England National Team Programme (ENTP) which oversees the development of promising junior players at various age groups who attend training camps and tournaments over the course of the year.
This week Gilbert is away with the England Under 15 AAA team at the Lions tournament in Most in the Czech Republic and next week he takes the Under 15 AA team to Tilburg in the Netherlands.
Domestically, Michael is the Head Coach of the highly successful Widnes Wild Junior Academy, which runs teams at Under 10, Under 12, Under 14 , Under 16 and Under 18 level. He is also a senior player with the Widnes Wild NIHL team and, when he is not doing any of that, he is also the General Manager of the Planet Ice rink in Widnes.
