Moralee Conference Weekend Round Up - 10th & 11th January

League leaders Blackburn Hawks demolished bottom team Manchester Minotaurs 16-0 on Sunday night to maintain their 6 point lead at the top of the table.  Adam Brittle got 2+6, Luke Brittle 4+2 and Daniel Brittle picked up a 14-shot shut-out.

Solway Sharks beat Sutton Sting 3-1 on Saturday and now pull clear in second place ahead of the chasing pack.

Whitley Warriors scored twice in the last minute of their game away at Sheffield Spartans on Saturday to snatch a last ditch 3-3 draw  but then lost 8-1 away at Billingham Stars in the north-east derby on Sunday night.   Those results leave Spartans, Warriors and Stars all level on 13 points, although Billingham have games in hand over the others.

In the ECCN, Billingham Stars lost 11-1 to Telford Tigers EPL team in what was the last group game for both teams.  Tigers win the group with 23 points from their 12 group games while Stars finish bottom with just 2 points from their 2-5 win away at Solway Sharks back in September.

The Sharks became the only NIHL North team to beat an EPL team on Sunday to date when they won 4-5 away at Peterborough Phantoms on Sunday night.
