Moralee Conference Weekend Round Up - 3rd & 4th January

League leaders Blackburn Hawks had to rely on a last minute equaliser to snatch a 4-4 draw at home to Sheffield Spartans to maintain their unbeaten record.  Second placed Solway Sharks made up ground on the leaders with a 5-4 win over Billingham Stars on Saturday but were unable to capitalise further on the Hawks' dropped point by crashing to a 5-3 defeat away at Whitley Warriors on Sunday.

The Warriors were leading 5-0 on 45 mins and the Sharks' fightback when it came was too little too late.

In the other Moralee game of the weekend, Sutton Sting won 9-6 away at bottom team Manchester Minotaurs.

With almost everybody beating everybody else at present, the league table makes for some fascinating viewing. The Hawks still lead with 20 points from 11 games and Solway are in second with 14 points from 12 games.  Sheffield and Whitley are next with 12 points apiece and then Sutton and Billingham both have 11 points, meaning that places 3 to 6 are separated by just 1 point.
