The resulting 3-4 defeat represents the best performance by an NIHL team against an EPL team in this competition so far.

The ECCN cup game between Billingham Stars and Peter Phantoms EPL on Sunday night was abandoned after 41 minutes after a serious injury to Phantoms GB international Marc Levers. It came after an accidental clash that left Levers unconscious on the ice.  It was decided to abandon the game as he couldn't be moved until he was treated by Paramedics.  Fortunately, Levers was able to walk off the ice and went to hospital for a precautionary MRI scan. The score at the time of the incident was 1-2 to the Phantoms.
