Streatham Redskins returned to the top of the South 1 table after a 4 point weekend with victories over Cardiff Devils (9-3 at home) and Oxford City Stars (4-8 away). They are level on points with previous leaders Chelmsford Chieftains - who shut out Bracknell Hornets 4-0 on Sunday night - but have played two games more.
The Hornets won 6-4 at home to Solent Devils on Saturday but were then leapfrogged into 3rd place by Invicta Dynamos who won 1-6 away at London Raiders.
It was a bad weekend all round for Solent as they also lost 4-5 at home Milton Keynes Thunder on Sunday and have now announced that the future of the club is under threat following the loss of their main financial backer.
London Raiders -who are themselves are re-building after their financial problems during the close season and recent player walkout - lost 4-1 away on Sunday night to Wightlink Raiders who have their own problems following recent criticism of team performances.
There were no upsets in the ECCS as Chelmsford Chieftains lost 5-1 away at Guildford Flames EPL, Wightlink were shut out 6-0 away at MK Lightning EPL and Invicta were beaten at home 4-8 by Swindon Wildcats EPL.
